Pepperell to christen good form and break duck at Nordea Masters

It’s a case of what doesn’t break you makes you stronger for Eddie Pepperrell, as the young Englishman looks to put his Irish Open play-off defeat behind him at the Nordea Masters.
Sport is a cruel mistress, as Pepperell found out in squally conditions in Royal County Down last week, where the 24-year-old came within a whisker of a first tournament win on the European Tour, only to lose out in a three-way sudden death play-off on the 18th where par wasn’t quite enough.
However, such a performance in such testing conditions – which saw many stellar names fall by the wayside – can only increase the Abigndon native’s belief that his time for silverware in his third full season on Tour is imminent.
The perfect opportunity now presents itself in immediate fashion, as Pepperrell prepares to tee it up at the PGA Sweden National, a course where he excelled last season.
The Englishman shot four rounds at par or lower to finish -13 for the tournament, good enough for a share of sixth in Sweden.
That display proved a season-turner for Pepperrell who went on to card a further five top-ten finishes in 2014, and at 33/1 he looks among the finest each-way chances in the Nordea Masters field.
On that same note is rising German star Maximillian Kieffer at 40/1. Weekend scores of 67 and 66 saw Kieffer finish on the cusp of the top 10 in Sweden a year ago and he’s been a model of consistency in 2015.
Chasing a 14th straight cut, Kieffer is long and accurate off the tee and like Pepperrell showed incredible composure to negotiate the gusts of 40 mph to finish inside the top 10 in Ireland last week.
That’s now finishes of 9th, 27th and eighth heading to Scandinavia for the Dusseldorf-born player.
