Poll: Who should Anthony Joshua step into the ring with next?

| 01.06.2015

Some may question the quality of fighters that Anthony Joshua has been fighting, and dispatching, in his short career so far, but there is no denying the excitement that surrounds the future of the Watford-born pugilist.

His second round stoppage of American Kevin Johnson, a man who had previously gone the distance with Tyson Fury and Vitali Klitschko, must rank as his most devastating performance yet.

So who next for the Olympic gold medallist? The WBC route and an ultimate challenge of Deontay Wilder’s heavyweight belt looks the likely target, but with five fighters ahead of him in the pecking order, Joshua will probably have to wait.

With that in mind, we’re asking you who you’d like to see AJ fighting next from these five.

David Price

Many have been calling for Joshua to take on a boxer that will at least put up a fight, and Price would certainly be that man.

The former super-heavyweight sits just one place above Joshua in the WBA rankings, so would seem a solid next step on the ladder for the relative newcomer.

Vyacheslav Glazkov

The Ukrainian was the other bronze medallist alongside Price in the 2008 Olympics, and has seen his career continue in similarly impressive style.

A draw against American Malik Scott is the only blemish on his 21 fight professional career that most recently saw him get the decision against Steve Cunningham.

Tyson Fury

Fury may let his mouth run off with him at times, but there is no doubting his ability in the ring.

The Mancunian is unbeaten in 24 professional starts, and while an-all British fight against Joshua would be a thrilling spectacle, a showdown with the champion Wilder has looked on the cards for a while now.

Dereck Chisora

‘Del Boy’ has David Price in his sights, but could he put his mettle to the test against Anthony Joshua before a crack at the Liverpudlian?

Sat just three places above Joshua in the IBF Heavyweight rankings, it would appear there isn’t a lot between the pair, and a battle could be endearing stuff.

Bermane Stiverne

Ranked just one spot in the WBC ladder above the British hitter, Stiverne is the next man Joshua has to surpass on the way to the top.

The Alabama native was last seen in the ring going down to Deontay Wilder, where he looked far from his best. A bout between the two would certainly test any belt aspirations of the Matchroom fighter.
