Poll Reaction: Celtic and Rangers man dubbed football’s biggest traitor

It may have happened well back in the 1980s but Celtic fans still haven’t forgiven Mo Johnston for joining arch rivals Rangers.
With news of former Benfica manager Jorge Jesus switching allegiances to Sporting Lisbon we asked you to vote for the biggest traitor in football’s history and with 32 per cent of the votes Johnston edged out two players on opposite sides of the Arsenal divide.
Next in the voting, with 26 per cent apiece, were Sol Campbell and Ashely Cole, with neither man feeling safe in certain parts of north London but for very different reasons.
Campbell was Tottenham captain and a hero among those on the terraces but when he sheepishly followed Arsene Wenger out for a surprise press conference to announce his signing for the Gunners opinions around White Hart Lane changed in an instant.
While Campbell is still revered along the Holloway Road, Cole’s name is mud after he “trembled with anger” at the indignation of being offered £55,000 a week and opted to join Chelsea.
After winning a host of trophies at Stamford Bridge Cole will feel his decision was justified but try telling that to a disgruntled Gooner!
Next in the voting, with a surprisingly low 10 per cent, was Luis Figo. After leaving Barcelona to Real Madrid just as he was coming into his peak years the Portugal ace faced a wrath that famously included a pig’s head being thrown at him on his return to the Nou Camp.
Had this poll been taken in Spain he could have expected a larger proportion of the votes but here he escapes with fourth place.
Lastly we have Harry Redknapp. It is a testament to ‘Arry’s likeability that he was able to leave Portsmouth to take the helm at bitter south-coast rivals Southampton only to take the Saints down and return to Pompey and still escape with just six per cent of the vote!
