It’s the question on the nation’s lips for five days every year in June – what colour will the Queen’s hat be when she heads to Royal Ascot?
On the first day of the 2015 meeting it was pink (fuchsia if you will) and the bookies were left feeling pretty red-faced by Her Majesty’s choice of attire.
Ladbrokes forked out thousands of pounds to savvy punters with one customer in a West Sussex shop landing a monster gamble.
A PR spokesperson from Ladbrokes said: “Needless to say bookies all over the country aren’t tickled pink by Her Majesty’s choice of hat on the opening day. Punters have taken us to the cleaners and it could be a long week ahead.”
