Amoo can be the catalyst for Partick progression
Partick enjoyed an excellent campaign last term, registering their highest league finish in 34 years, as well as reaching the quarter finals of the Challenge Cup.
However, with success comes expectation and many supporters will have their sights set on a top-six finish this time round.
Thistle’s most talked about pre-season acquisition has been that of their suspect mascot Kingsley, who resembles something between a psychotic sun and a disillusioned starfish. Nevertheless, the man that should be on the tip of Jags tongues is that of David Amoo.
The former Liverpool trainee never quite made the grade at Anfield but was a part of Champions League squads and earned valuable experience on loan at the likes of MK Dons, Hull City and Bury.
After flitting around, Amoo settled at Carlisle in 2013 and enjoyed a solid campaign, getting on the scoresheet eight times when operating on the flanks.
Last season was a frustrating one as he suffered with minor injuries but the Londoner still chipped in with five strikes. Options to stay in England were aplenty for the 24-year-old but he told Sky Sports: “I had some options to stay in League 1 but I’ve played there before. I want the chance to play against big teams like Aberdeen, Celtic and Hearts. I just want to pit my wits against them. They are the highest standard of this league so I am looking forward to that.”
Amoo will be of crucial assistance to star striker Kris Doolan, who hit nine goals in an impressive campaign. If the Thistle legend can lead the line to such aplomb and Amoo can make an impact then a top-six finish at 7/2 and another excellent season beckons for Alan Archibald’s side.
