England star Steph Houghton is the latest #MasteratWork

| 23.07.2015

The England women’s team kept us glued to our television sets throughout the recent World Cup and it’s been announced that one of the Lionesses’ star performers in Canada is the latest recipient of Ladbrokes’ #MasterAtWork award.

Captain Steph Houghton played a key role in helping Mark Sampson’s side achieve a record third-place finish in the competition having agonisingly just missed out on a final berth.

The 27-year-old was a pivotal figure in the biggest England national team success since the men lifted the Jules Rimet trophy on home soil in 1966.

Houghton was an ever-present throughout the tournament, scored against Norway in the last-16 and was named Player of the Match as England knocked out the hosts to reach their first ever semi-final.

And having been named the bookmaker’s #MasterAtWork for July this is what she had to say:

“I am delighted to win the Ladbrokes #MasterAtWork Award for July. Winning awards like this reflects the recent success we’ve had in finishing third at the World Cup.

“Individual awards are nice to receive but I am part of a great team and squad and I share this award with each and every one of them.”

Congratulations Steph. Show your appreciation in the comments box below or via @Ladbrokes or our Facebook page!
