Man United bargaining chip perfect for landing La Liga bruiser

The Spanish media continue to claim Manchester United are moving heaven and earth in their attempts to land Real Madrid centre-half Sergio Ramos, with local rag AS reporting that the Red Devils will go back in with a £41m bid for the 29-year-old, having had a £32m offer rejected.
That update doesn’t quite tally with what has been said by Madrid manager Rafa Benitez, who insists he has spoken to Ramos about his future at the Bernabeu and won’t sell the Spain stalwart this summer.
United were thought to be playing on the fact that Los Blancos want goalkeeper David de Gea, who is highly unlikely to sign a new contract at Old Trafford with his current deal set to run out at the end of next season.
The De Gea-plus-cash for Ramos swap may no longer be on the cards, but an eerily similar deal might present itself to the Red Devils if recent rumours are to be believed.
Valencia’s Nicolas Otamendi has long been linked with a move to United, and the Argentina centre-half was rumoured to be on the verge of going on strike at the Mestalla to force through the transfer.
The Mirror claims a deal is more likely than ever following Los Che’s decision to leave Otamendi out of their 2015/16 kit launch, but the 13-time Premier League champions might be able to sugar the pill and get over the line quicker by chucking in goalkeeper Victor Valdes.
Valencia are thought to be keen on the six-time La Liga winning custodian, who seems to have had a spectacular falling out with Old Trafford gaffer Louis van Gaal in recent days.
Valdes was left out of United’s pre-season trip to the US after Van Gaal questioned his attitude, although the 33-year-old hit back on Twitter with a montage of his efforts in the Old Trafford reserves.
