Omega European Masters: An Englishman, Scot and German selected

Sergio Garcia plays the role of Rory McIlroy or Jordan Spieth in the betting for the Omega European Masters as the big-name, short-price favourite to claim the trophy in the Alpine hills of Switzerland.
The Spaniard returns to the stunning surroundings of the Crans-sur-Sierre Golf Club after a nine-year absence from the event, but the 2005 winner combines the magic formula of course and current form.
Coming off yet another top 10 at a Major with a tied-sixth at St Andrews, Garcia is the only player to be given a single digit price (8/1) to lift the European Masters trophy, despite leaving it almost a decade between visits.
The world number 10 has now recorded three consecutive top-four finishes in Crans Monaco, but having left it so long to reappear there is much more value lurking elsewhere in the field – with this trio getting the nod ahead of Garcia.
Danny Willet 14/1
The Sheffield man’s stature grew immeasurably at the Open Championship (as did his wallet) where Willet led after 36 holes only to slide just out of Claret Jug contention as Sunday wore on, ending up in a four-way share of sixth.
Still the Englishman is flying this season, as his move up to third in the Race to Dubai rankings reveals, while he’s been no slouch in this tournament recently either.
Willet hasn’t missed a cut in seven attempts at the European Masters, finishing runner-up and fifth over the past three editions and he’s playing like a demon.
Richie Ramsay 25/1
The Scot only carded one round over par around St Andrew’s Old Course which, in such inhospitable conditions, reveals a man in charge of his game right now.
Ramsay won here in spectacular fashion in 2012, filling his card with birdies to finish 16 under par before the Aberdonian followed that up with a tie for eighth in 2014, boasting a majestic opening round score of 62.
Maximillian Kieffer 33/1
The German has shot to prominence during his third full season on the European Tour, finding himself in contention in four of his last eight events which have bred top-10 finishes.
At some point soon the winning line will have to be breached though for Kieffer who is inside the top 25 for scoring average, GIR and putts per GIR on the tour.
Thirteenth spot at this event on debut two years ago suggests this would be as good a place as any to break his duck.
