Premier League Countdown: Leicester a big price to go 5 unbeaten

The magic word in sport is momentum and although Leicester’s late season survival surge was plotted a few months ago, the Foxes should still carry some impetus into the new Premier League campaign.
Admittedly a managerial change may have affected things slightly, but looking at Claudio Ranieri’s first five games in charge, it’s fair to say the fixture computer has been kind to the former Chelsea boss.
Three of the Foxes’ first five matches, which are Sunderland (h), West Ham (a), Tottenham (h) Bournemouth (a) and Aston Villa (h), see them play teams that finished below 11th last season, while the Cherries are cutting their Premier League teeth in 2015/16.
Spurs, who were also defeated by Leicester at White Hart Lane in the FA Cup, are the only opponent hailing from the upper half of the 2014/15 standings where they finished fifth.
This information makes Ladbrokes’ special on the Midlanders navigating these fixtures unbeaten very appealing indeed, labelled at handsome odds of 14/1 by the bookmakers.
The Black Cats won just three times on the road last season so as Leicester’s price of 1/1 to win their curtain raiser suggests, defeat doesn’t seem particularly likely.
West Ham will provide a stern test in east London having defeated the Foxes 2-0 at the Boleyn Ground last season, but Slaven Bilic’s Irons have looked unconvincing during their pre-season Europa League escapades and lost the reverse fixture last term.
Tottenham are the clearest danger to this bet’s chances, but Bournemouth will be beatable and Villa were also King Power Stadium victims during Leicester’s initial season back in the big time.
Derbies are usually tight affairs, but with draws as good as wins where this special bet is concerned, it’s certainly conceivable Ranieri takes his team to Stoke on matchday six yet to taste defeat.
