The final curtain is near for John Terry, according to poll result

Just to add further fuel to the Chelsea fire, Ladbrokes News readers have decided that captain John Terry’s time at the top is coming to an end.

The Blues skipper was unceremoniously substituted at half-time in his side’s miserable 3-0 defeat to Manchester City, the first time in 177 games under the management of Jose Mourinho that he’s been hauled off.

And that’s led 68 per cent of voters to decide that Terry’s long association with the club could be under threat.

Now 34-years-old, the former England defender has seen his form and fitness questioned following Chelsea’s poor start to the defence of their Premier League crown.

Having been made to suffer by City’s lively frontline in the first-half, Mourinho made the decision to take off his inspirational leader, only to see his charges go on to concede twice more.

Of course, it should be remembered that only last season Terry was looking better than ever in helping his side to the title and subsequently being named in the PFA Team of the Year.

Perhaps that’s a memory that the remaining 32 per cent of you who think he’s still got plenty left in the tank are hanging on to.
