Forfar’s Dick Campbell named Ladbrokes League 1 Manager of the Month

| 21.09.2015

After leading his side to the summit of Ladbrokes League 1 Forfar Athletic boss Dick Campbell has been named the Manager of the Month for August.

Three wins and a draw from the Loons opening four matches saw them topple early leaders Dunfermline at the head of the division.

As sixth-favourites to win the title with the sponsors before a ball had been kicked back in August, the feat is a testament to the job the man at the helm has done at Station Park.

And speaking to The Courier last week Campbell spoke of how there was still more to come:

“To be honest, despite the fact that we are top of the league with 13 points to our name already, I still do not know my best forward combination,” he said.

“There are still improvements to be made but I am happy with how we have done so far.”

The options Campbell has at his disposal have been apparent with the variety of different goalscorers at the clubs so far this season.

Eight different players have contributed to their 13 goal haul this term, and with the man in charge still unsure of his first choice striking partnership, expect that number of players getting in on the act to increase in the coming weeks.

Since being appointed in 2008 the former Brechin City boss has worked wonders at Forfar, guiding them to promotion in 2010, and solidifying their place as a third tier club since.

An impressive win percentage of 45 per cent will go down well with Loons fans, especially if he maintains it and guides his side to the Ladbrokes League 1 title, a feat for which they are 9/1 shots to achieve.

However after going down 2-1 to Cowdenbeath at the weekend, Campbell will be hoping he can turn September around to continue that challenge in the upper echelons of the division.
