Jack Grealish right to choose England over Ireland

Having made the decision to represent England over Republic of Ireland at senior level, Ladbrokes News voters think that Jack Grealish’s choice has been the right one.

The Aston Villa midfielder has represented the Republic of Ireland at several levels, turning out for the U17, U18 and U21 sides.

But his impressive performances at Villa Park have thrust him into the limelight, and after much deliberating, the 20-year-old has switched allegiances.

Commenting on the switch the Villa youngster said: “It was not an easy decision as Ireland has a special place with me through my family. But I have decided to represent the country of my birth.”

We asked you for your say on the matter and 63 per cent of you are backing the Birmingham man’s decision to make himself available for Roy Hodgson’s side.

37 per cent of you disagreed with Grealish’s choice but it seems he’s set for a career in the white of England rather than the green of the Emerald Isle.

Having confirmed his decision Grealish is now 1/2 to be named in England’s squad to take on Estonia and Lithuania next month, while it’s 5/1 that he gets the nod for the Three Lions’ assault on France in 2016.

Odds of 4/1 suggest he gets his England career off to a flier with a debut goal, but there are plenty who will question his decision.
