The Weekly Acca: Man United will pile more misery on Black Cats

Published:

Every accumulator needs an absolute banker to build its foundations on and Manchester United to beat Sunderland is a five-star, solid lock.

Some might say we’ve played it safe this weekend but the facts don’t lie hence our selections.

To paraphrase Paddy Ashdown on General Election night, we will eat our proverbial hat if the Red Devils don’t do the business at Old Trafford.

But don’t worry if you just miss out. Ladbrokes have got your back thanks to their 5+ team acca offer which offers money back as a free bet if one team lets you down!*

In the meantime, let’s take a closer look at our quintet. Putting this bet on means a fiver will win you £58.08!

Man United to beat Sunderland

We might have to give up the day job if this one doesn’t come off.

Sunderland look absolutely wretched while United have been rampant recently, inspired by new signing Anthony Martial.

The Red Devils have only lost one of their last 11 league games at Old Trafford, winning eight of those encounters.

Meanwhile, the visitors have only won one of their last 14 on the road and have shipped 15 goals in their previous seven away from the Stadium of Light.

Southampton to beat Swansea

A tricky one to call but we know how we see this one panning out.

Swansea are winless in their last four on the road and were disappointing losers away at Watford two weeks ago.

A midweek League Cup defeat at Hull was hardly ideal either and a Saints side who’ve won three of their last four against the Swans can finally start to show their star quality.

Ipswich to beat Bristol City

Mick McCarthy’s Tractor Boy’s have seen their early season upswing curtailed but this visit of struggling City represents the perfect chance to get back to winning ways.

The Robins have struggled to adjust to life in the Championship and currently sit second-bottom of the table.

Three defeats in their last four games and nine goals conceded during that period won’t be a huge confidence booster ahead of this visit to Portman Road.

Oxford to beat Morecambe

The U’s used to struggle in front of their own fans but not anymore.

Oxford are unbeaten in their last eight home games in the league and will look to take that form into this clash with Morecambe.

The Shrimpers are in decent nick themselves with away wins against Newport and Yeovil recently but this will be a step too far.

Ajax to beat Groningen

Unbeaten Ajax have scored 16 goals and conceded just two in the league so far this season so what can possibly go wrong at the Amsterdam ArenA this Saturday night?

Nothing of course!

The table-topping hosts have lost just one of their last 19 Eredivisie games and possess a red hot frontman in Anwar El Ghazi.

Everything points towards a routine home win and a lovely payout come the final whistle.
