Football fans think the state of the game in 2045 will be pretty grim
It may be #BackToTheFuture Day but football fans’ outlook on what the game will look like in 30 years is less Hill Valley and more War of the Worlds.
That’s according to the latest Ladbrokes News poll at least, with 80 per cent of voters issuing a big, fat ‘NO’ when asked if football will be better for fans in 2045.
The spectre of rising ticket prices, increasingly poor governance and a general feeling of dissatisfaction with the modern game are already very real issues.
And it seems the pessimists amongst our poll respondents think these are only likely to become bigger problems.
Earlier we indulged in our own spot of crystal ball gazing and gave a selection of possible scenarios, including the scary thought of Sepp Blatter’s cryogenically frozen head still running FIFA.
Perhaps that’s what spooked everyone?
Either way, let’s at least try and look on the bright side.
The future’s got loads of great things in store for footy fans.
There’s the World Cup in Qatar for starters…
