POLL: Who should lead the line for England if Rooney doesn’t start?

| 08.10.2015

England head into their penultimate Euro 2016 qualifier against Estonia hoping to maintain a perfect record in Group E but Roy Hodgson looks set to be without Wayne Rooney. England’s record goalscorer is struggling to overcome a minor injury in time for the match in front of a sell-out Wembley crowd.

Hodgson has plenty of options at his disposal however, and a quartet of players are waiting in the wings to lead the line tomorrow night, including in-form Theo Walcott and Tottenham’s Harry Kane among others.

But who do you think the Three Lions boss should choose?

We want you to tell us who should be England’s replacement for Wayne Rooney tomorrow, so cast your votes and let us know!

Theo Walcott

The Arsenal man was in sublime form in the central role as the Gunners swept Manchester United aside last weekend. Walcott has been hinting recently that he wants to be played a more integral part, and this could be an ideal opportunity to stake his claim.

England v Scotland - International Friendly

Jamie Vardy

The 28-year-old man has been in excellent goalscoring form, and currently tops the Premier League scoring charts with seven. Some in the England camp may see this as a dead rubber game and a perfect chance to hand someone like Vardy a rare start.

San Marino v England - UEFA EURO 2016 Qualifier

Harry Kane

Last season’s breakthrough player hasn’t quite recaptured that form this time around, but it seems to be a case of when rather than if the goals will come. A game like this could be the one where things click together for the Tottenham forward.

Danny Ings

It’s been a slow season for Ings after his transfer to Liverpool, waiting on the sidelines for much of the campaign thus far. Like Vardy, this match could play into his hands and provide a rare opportunity for an England start should Hodgson choose not to risk Walcott or Kane.
