ATP Tour Finals – Federer to see off Djokovic in London

| 17.11.2015

Day three at the ATP World Tour Finals in London’s O2 Arena, and already it’s time for the second round of fixtures in the Stan Smith group, with one particularly attention-grabbing clash.

Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer provide the evening entertainment, with the two tennis giants having met 42 times previously, and the head-to-head record currently reading a tantalising 21 wins apiece.

Here’s a rundown of Tuesday’s matches…

Novak Djokovic v Roger Federer

Both Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer wasted little in their opening matches, with the duo seeing off Kei Nishikori and Tomas Berdych in straight sets wins lasting 65 and 69 minutes respectively.

Djokovic is 3/10 favourite, understandably so given his stunning form in 2015, but that’s all the more reason why Federer is the value at 5/2.

The pair have shared their four hard-court clashes this season, but while the Serbian prevailed in the US Open final, Federer has come out on top in both contests over the shorter three-set format.

The Swiss maestro also took a set in their other meeting – again over three sets – and now 34, Federer is much more likely to see off Djokovic in the shorter contests.

Both the Fed-Express’ hard-court wins came in straights too, making 11/2 on a repeat victory rather eye-catching.

Tomas Berdych v Kei Nishikori

Amazingly these two haven’t met for three years, but it’s Kei Nishikori who leads the head-to-head over Tomas Berdych 3-1 and all of those victories came on hard courts.

The pair endured pretty nightmarish starts to the tournament on Sunday, and this match represents both players’ best chance of a win.

Berdych is in better form having won two ATP titles in October and is 4/7 to win the contest, while Nishikori has claimed three ATP successes, but none since August.

This should be a close encounter, but while neither player really showed much in their opening match, Nishikori’s head-to-head record just adds that bit of weight to his 11/8 outsider price.

Outside of the match markets, the tie to reach three sets at 5/4 looks value.

Elsewhere:

Jamie Murray and John Peers get the day’s action underway as they take on Rohan Bopanna and Florin Mergea.

Murray and Peers endured a thrilling encounter in their opening game versus Fabio Fognini and Simone Bolleli, and Ladbrokes’ odds on the pair to win this time at 4/7 suggest they’ll need to work hard once more with Bopanna and Margea 5/4 for victory.

Fognini and Bolleli could have done with winning that opening encounter, as they now take on the heralded Bryan brothers.

Bob and Mike are strong 4/11 favourites with Ladbrokes, with the Italian duo priced at 2/1 to cause an upset at the former Millennium Dome.

To add to this excitement, Ladbrokes have a host of special markets for Tuesday’s action, including:

Djokovic and Berdych both to win their Tuesday matches @ 6/5

Federer and Nishikori both to win their Tuesday matches @ 8/1

Federer and Nishikori both to win a Set in their Tuesday matches @ 2/1
