How Twitter reacted to Liverpool thumping Manchester City

| 22.11.2015

Jurgen Klopp had already beaten Chelsea as Liverpool’s new manager, but seeing as everyone is doing that these days his overseeing of a 4-1 win against Manchester City will be viewed as his best result at Anfield thus far.

Brazilian duo Roberto Firmino and Philippe Coutinho were masterful in the crushing win, as Klopp’s gegenpressing style was in full destructive flight at the Etihad stadium.

The game was the first since Raheem Sterling switched the red shirt from Merseyside for the sky blue of Manchester and the England man is likely to have received the odd tweet or two from Liverpool fans in the aftermath of the win.

Here’s the best of social media’s reaction to the victory:

Naturally, Sterling was the early focal point as the game kicked off

But soon, Eliaquim Mangala’s own goal took the heat off

After just over half an hour, Liverpool led 3-0 with Coutinho and Firmino rampant

Sergio Aguero hit back with a sweetly struck curler, but it wasn’t a big enough jolt into life for the Citizens

And the three points were confirmed to be going Liverpool’s way when, of all people, Martin Skrtel continued his fine scoring record against City

Predictably at the final whistle, Sterling copped some stick, much like he had all afternoon on Twitter

Not that Liverpool fans minded, they had bigger dreams brewing
