The Blackburn Rovers reject who could fire Chelsea to glory

There’s no doubt that Chelsea are going to spend in January to try to turn around their disastrous start to the season.

The latest name linked with a move to save the struggling Blues may come as a surprise to Premier League fans, with former Blackburn Rovers striker Nikola Kalinic being a rumoured target at Stamford Bridge.

Kalinic hardly set the league alight during his time at Ewood Park, but has since gone on to find great form and could be a solid acquisition for Jose Mourinho.

The 27-year-old is the joint-second-highest scorer in Serie A, where he helped Fiorentina to start the season on top of the Serie A standings until the last gameweek of fixtures.

Recent results have stalled slightly, for example a 2-2 draw with Empoli, but the side still remain third and only two points off first place Inter Milan.

Kalinic has only been with La Viola since this summer but is already becoming a firm favourite in Florence due to his nine goals in 12 league games.
This comes after four years at Dnipro where he revitalised his career following a difficult time in England.

The forward scored 49 goals in 125 games for the Ukrainians, earning his move to the Serie A giants.

His highlight during his Dnipro stay was undoubtedly the crucial role he played as they made a surprise run to the Europa League final.

He scored five times during that campaign, including the opener in the final with Sevilla that they went on to lose 3-2.

The exploits of the Croatian forward and the interest from Chelsea will come as a surprise to Blackburn supporters who saw nothing of this during his two years in Lancashire.

He only managed to find the net 13 times in his Rovers career as he failed to prove himself to Steve Kean, of all people, before being sold on.
