What can Dundee United fans expect from Eiji Kawashima?

Published:

It’s fair to say that Dundee United have struggled to replace goalkeeper Radoslaw Cierzniak since his departure in the summer.

But in new arrival Eiji Kawashima the Ladbrokes Premiership strugglers look to have found a long-term solution to their problems between the sticks.

Earlier today it was announced that the free agent would be making the moving to Tannadice subject to receiving a work permit.

Completing the paperwork appears to be a formality although boss Mixu Paatelainen may have to wait a little longer than he would like to name his new signing in the starting line-up.

BBC Sport are reporting that the deal is unlikely to be concluded in time for Kawashima to feature in next weekend’s game against Aberdeen.

In the meantime, what can Arabs fans expect from the 72-capped Japan international?

Well, you don’t have to do too much digging to find tribute compilations…

The former Standard Liege stopper will add much-needed experience to a back-line that’s conceded 26 goals in just 13 league outings this term.

And if he can recapture form like this he’s sure to make himself a fans’ favourite amongst the United faithful.
