Can Ligue 1 pair boost Bournemouth’s survival bid?

Eddie Howe got his fingers burnt with his last dip into the French transfer market but the Bournemouth manager has not been put off by Max Gradel’s season-ending injury and is reportedly set for a double swoop on Bordeaux.

According to the Bournemouth Daily Echo, the Cherries boss is among a host of Premier League managers keeping tabs on midfielders Henri Saivet and Wahbi Khazri.

The newspaper claims that Bournemouth representatives were present to watch the duo in Bordeaux’s recent 1-0 win over Guingamp and speculation is now mounting that a January bid is imminent.

Winger Saivet has impressed in over 100 games for Bordeaux and five international outings for Senegal, while Khazri earned his reputation at Bastia before moving to Bordeaux and has turned out 13 times for Tunisia.

Howe will not have a clear run at the pair, however, with Tottenham, Everton, Swansea, Aston Villa and local rivals Southampton also rumoured to be interested.

While Bournemouth are unable to offer the glamour of Spurs Howe’s exciting brand of football and the chance for regular first team football could see the Cherries move ahead of the Londoners in the pecking order.
