Guus Hiddink will be the next Chelsea manager according to poll

The papers are right and Guus Hiddink will be the next Chelsea manager. That is the suggestion from Ladbrokes News readers after our latest poll.

The struggling champions are on the look-out for a new boss after parting ways with Jose Mourinho on Thursday, and it is the Dutchman that has been given the nod.

The 69-year-old is currently without a managerial job after parting ways with the Dutch national team in June, but it looks like that spell out of the game is about to end.

He picked up 38 per cent of the vote in the Ladbrokes poll to come out on top of the other candidates and justify his 1/16 odds.

The closest anyone came to getting the nod ahead of Hiddink was Atletico maestro Diego Simeone.

The 16/1 shot to be the next permanent boss at Stamford Bridge picked up 25 per cent of the shouts to welcome the Argentine to the Premier League.

He came home just in front of Pep Guardiola who ignited plenty of speculation about his future this week with talk of him leaving Bayern Munich at the end of the current season.

Despite that he attracted just 23 per cent of the votes, just in front of former Blues’ reserve team boss Brendan Rodgers, who claimed  11 per cent.

Spare a thought for Juande Ramos though.

Just two per cent of those that responded thought the former Tottenham manager is likely to succeed ‘The Special One’ – or as was trending yesterday ‘The Sacked One’ – in west London.

That blank might not be the be-all-and-end-all but it certainly suggests the price of 14/1 for him to take the hot-seat are about right.
