Hibernian boss adamant best players will stay to fight for title

| 04.12.2015

Hibernian manager Alan Stubbs believes it would take ‘serious money’ to tempt the club into disrupting their Ladbrokes Scottish Championship promotion bid mid-season.

December is a nervous time for many a manager with the January transfer window looming just around the corner, Stubbs has felt compelled to warn off potential suitors.

The Edinburgh club are just three points off the scorching pace set by Rangers this season, but their own incredible form has opened up the possibility of January bids for their leading protagonists.

Jason Cummings, the Hibees top scorer and Ladbrokes player of the month for October, is certain to be the man attracting most attention for his exploits.

Premier League Bournemouth are believed to have shown interest in recent weeks and plenty of English Championship clubs also in the frame according to reports.

However, Stubbs has been quick to show that admiring glances do not bother him, instead he’s spelled out the determination to keep his promotion-hunting squad together.

He said: “The speculation doesn’t bother me, that’s football. I’m not afraid to speak about clubs being interested in my players.

“But the most important thing is that I must stress is our mindset right now is that no-one will be leaving.

“We know football can change very quickly and if someone is interested it’s going to have to be something really serious for us to even consider anything in January.

“And when I say serious, I mean serious.”

Hibs’ only dropped points in 12 league matches came in a 1-1 draw against St Mirren at the back end of September, while they’ve since made it into the Scottish League Cup semis as well.

Ladbrokes’ make them 5/1 shots to win the Championship title and 2/5 chances to keep their awesome winning streak going when they venture to Morton next in the league.
