Leicester to continue their point-collecting policy at Anfield this Xmas

Published:

Leicester proved thorny customers on their last visit to Anfield, fighting back from two goals down to earn a point on New Year’s Day, but almost exactly a year on they will be targeting all three as the clubs clash on Boxing Day.

The contrast in the Foxes’ fortunes from last season’s trip to Liverpool, where Nigel Pearson’s outfit were bottom of the table and four points adrift, to now, where they arrive as the Premier League leaders, is mind-bogglingly stark.

Having been installed at the King Power Stadium this summer, Claudio Ranieri has confounded all his doubters and subtly infused a few new faces into a side which was largely assembled by Pearson.

The result has been pure entertainment for the fans and wider Premier League audiences, as this Leicester side are all about goals and ominously for Jurgen Klopp’s stuttering Liverpool outfit, fantastic on the counter attack home or away.

Mainly more down to historical meetings and status, Liverpool are still the 17/20 favourites to claim victory which will have many punters lumping on Leicester at 14/5 or at least another point for the Foxes at the same price.

The more illustrious hosts are not only in poor form generally – they’ve picked up a single point from nine – but their Anfield form is a real concern.

Winning just three of their eight assignments and losing another two does not make for great reading for Kopites.

Meanwhile, Leicester boast the best away form in the division, incredibly going unbeaten in nine on the road this season and chasing a fifth consecutive victory on their travels.

Jamie Vardy and co have also banged in exactly three goals in all of their last four away games – making the 6/1 on over 2.5 Leicester goals a sizzler, especially with Martin Skrtel joining Dejan Lovren on the sidelines.
