Swansea should go international in search for new manager

Swansea should look to add some South American flair to their managerial ranks according to Ladbrokes News readers, with Marcelo Bielsa tipped as the man for the Liberty Stadium hot-seat.

After Garry Monk was given his marching orders on Wednesday, we asked you who should replace him and it was the former Marseille gaffer who came out on top.

And it’s no surprise that a man Josep Guardiola once described as the “best manager in the world” is so highly sought for the role in Wales.

He attracted 39 per cent of the votes, though it wasn’t as clear-cut as one might expect.

Chasing him home in second place was David Moyes with 31 per cent of the verdict.

The Scot is also currently out of a job having left Real Sociedad last month after picking up just two wins in the San Sebastian side’s opening 11 La Liga fixtures.

Moyes worked wonders on a shoe-string budget a Everton between 2002 and 2013, guiding the Toffees to their first top four finish in nearly 20 years in the process.

A spell at Manchester United didn’t work out, but the experience he could bring to Swansea could be vital if they are to avoid sliding back into a relegation scrap.

The two managers third and fourth in the popularity stakes in our poll know all about a battle at the bottom of the table.

Gus Poyet was sacked in March having seen his Sunderland side slip into the bottom three and although he’s distanced himself from the vacant role, picked up 15 per cent of the vote ahead of Nigel Pearson.

Pearson would be just the man if City found themselves unable to halt their slide in the mean-time after he worked wonders to save Leicester from the drop and build the foundations for their awesome start this term.

However, only 12 per cent of voters think he is the man for Swansea.

Trailing at the rear, and perhaps suggesting that Swans fans want a man with top-flight experience, was Rangers’ boss Mark Warburton.

Although his Gers outfit sit top of the Ladbrokes Championship, only 3 per cent of voters said his first Premier League experience should be in Glamorgan.
