Kamara: Given time Steve Evans can take Leeds back to the top table

Without a win in five Championship fixtures, Leeds boss Steve Evans is beginning to come under some pressure at Elland Road, but I feel he can turn it round at the club.

The chopping and changing of managers cannot of helped things in west Yorkshire in recent years, but for me, stability is now needed at the club.

While odds of 50/1 suggest that making the play-offs this term is beyond them, I think that with some sort of stability at the club they can begin to climb back up to their former standing.

If Steve Evans is afforded a little bit longer in the position to provide that stability, then you can see him being the man to guide them back up to the Premier League in the next few years.

He’s done well wherever he’s been in management and since he has taken the reins at Elland Road he has proven that Leeds are not too big a club for him to take on.

He’s handled things well so far, and while we know there are no quick fixes in the Championship he can turn things around at the football club.

We know that the division is one of the hardest in the world to get out of, but two weeks ago everyone was telling me that two weeks ago Middlesbrough were as good as promoted.

But all of a sudden one defeat away at Bristol City has seen the whole chasing pack on them.

Just being in the mix means any club has a massive chance of promotion, and next season that is where United will be aiming.

The sale of Sam Byram to West Ham this week obviously weakens the squad somewhat, but frankly they didn’t really have much of a decision to make on the matter.

He’s another young lad whose contract was coming to its end and it didn’t look like he was going to sign an extension.

The impetus is then on Leeds to get some money for him, going to a tribunal would have been an extremely risky proposition for the club as they might have been left with less than they felt he was valued at.

In a way they were almost forced into having to sell him now for the price that was on the table, and they have to now move on without him.

He will be a loss in the playing ranks, but with Evans in charge I think they will cope well and can be challenging in the upper echelons of the table soon enough.
