Brexit backers look away now! Leave gains eroded as Remain holds

| 29.02.2016

Any gains made by the Leave camp in the last week appear to have been eroded with our Brexit betting barometer rating the chances of a breakaway at just 29%.

As you’ve probably figured out by now that means Remain is still firmly in the driving seat with the dial making it a 71% chance that Britain remains in the EU following this summer’s Referendum.

When Boris Johnson announced his intentions to campaign for Brexit there was a brief spike in interest for a Leave outcome with the odds on such an eventuality clipped to 15/8.

However, while the money may have dried up in the Referendum Result market, attention has switched to the future of Prime Minister, David Cameron.

The Conservative Leader is 4/1 to step down as PM this year and 7/1 to leave within a week of the Referendum.

Alex Donohue of Ladbrokes said: “Regardless of the party line it’s clear to see the odds of a Leave outcome and a Cameron resignation aren’t a million miles apart. Thankfully for the PM our Brexit barometer remains steadfastly in the Remain section of the dial.”
