Euro 2016: Get used to hearing more about these 5 star names

Part of the allure of international competitions is you get to see the best players from around the world all showcasing their ability in one place.

Obviously, everyone will be excited by the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Robert Lewandowski and Zlatan Ibrahimovic, but there will be other quality players strutting their stuff.

Here are five stars to look out for at Euro 2016:

Antoine Griezmann

The stage is set for Euro 2016 to be remembered as Griezmann’s tournament, with the French winger set to be the key player for the hosts.

So far this season, the Atletico Madrid man has scored 12 La Liga goals and is a big reason as to why Diego Simeone’s side currently sit second in the table above their famous rivals.

Matthias Ginter

Jurgen Klopp’s last season at Borussia Dortmund will be remembered as a tough one for the Bundesliga side typified by defensive frailties.

The form of Ginter alongside Mats Hummels mean no such problems exist now and the 22-year-old’s four assists this season show why he will be an important part of the Germany team at Euro 2016.

Michy Batshuayi

The Premier League is more than familiar with goalscoring Belgians as Romelu Lukaku, Christian Benteke and Eden Hazard have all proved their worth on these shores, but it’s a striker based in France who could be stealing the spotlight at Euro 2016.

Batshuayi has found the net 12 times for a lacklustre Marseille team and is still only 22 years old.

Artyom Dzyuba

Only Cristiano Ronaldo and Robert Lewandowski have scored more times in the Champions League this campaign than the Zenit striker, with the 27-year-old’s six strikes integral to his side winning five of their six group stage matches.

Dzyuba will be the star man for Russia in the tournament and his eight goals in 15 caps suggest he will live up to the pressure.

Piotr Zielinski

Empoli have surprised many by getting up to eighth in Serie A and a big part of this is the performances of this Polish midfielder.

Zielinski is rumoured to be a target for Liverpool, but the Reds will need to get in quick before he showcases his ability at Euro 2016.
