Everton fans hopeful Niasse can provide plenty for the Toffees

While Deadline Day went off like something of a damp squib for most clubs, for Everton it was all about welcoming their third most expensive signing in their history.

Former Lokomotiv Moscow Oumar Niasse man arrives on Merseyside for a fee of £13.5m and will certainly add more depth to the Toffees striking ranks.

Less than 24 hours after arriving at Goodison Park, and the Senegal international has been saying things that will do no harm to his relationship with the club’s fans.

“I had offers from Liverpool. I respect Klopp, but I prefer the colour blue,” he said according to MailOnline.

But more importantly it is what he can offer them on the pitch that will be the deciding factor in whether the hefty outlay was money well spent by Roberto Martinez.

The stats and honours speak for themselves when it comes to his spell in Russia.

Just last year he was named as Russia’s Player of the Year after his dazzling performances for the Railroders.

He’s capable of adding an assist or two as well with only Zenit St Petersburg’s Hulk being involved in more goals (22) than the new Everton signing this term (15).

Add to that four goals and three assists in six Europa League games earlier in the season and he looks the complete attacker.

…but the figures show that he can provide for his team-mates too. His work-rate is something that seems to have been picked up by the fans in their early assessment of their new arrival.

Providing support for Romelu Lukaku looks a real target Niasse needs to address during his time in the north-west with Martinez’s men looking more and more reliable on the Belgian.

In the Premier League, just Watford’s Odion Ighalo has scored a higher percentage of his team’s Premier League goals than Lukaku’s 37.5 per cent.

Adding another player who can find the back of the net might just be the difference as the Toffees push for a top-half finish after a slow start.

The early indications are that their new big money man can do just that, with Ladbrokes making it just 11/10 that he nets five or more times before the end of the season.
