Ladbrokes League 1: Leading pair to stretch their advantage

| 19.02.2016

For much of the season the battle for Ladbrokes League 1 supremacy seemed to be a two-horse race between Dunfermline and Ayr, but while the latter have floundered of late, Peterhead have stepped up to the plate.

The league leaders both face away trips, with just four league games taking place at 3pm this Saturday.

Here’s your weekend preview…

Airdrie v Stranraer

Stranraer’s six away wins is bettered only by Dunfermline while Airdrie have lost over half of their home games, winning one of their last five.

Furthermore, the visitors are unbeaten in five matches, conceding once.

Best Bet: Stranraer @ 23/10

Albion v Stenhousemuir

Albion haven’t won at home since the end of November, while Stenhousemuir have won two of their last three on the road.

Rovers have triumphed in both previous meetings this season however.

Best Bet: Draw @ 14/5

Brechin v Dunfermline

Brechin have only lost two of their last seven, but their two games against Dunfermline ended in heavy defeats.

Best Bet: Dunfermline -2 @ 15/8

Cowdenbeath v Peterhead

Peterhead are unbeaten in 13 while Cowdenbeath have just a single point from their last five games.

The last meeting between the sides ended 7-0 to the Blue Toon.

Best Bet: Peterhead -1 @ 7/4

Richard loves his sport, especially if it involves the sound of tyres screaming around a race track. He's not fussy though and his '90s Premier League nostalgia and knowledge of team nicknames is tough to match.
