Official: Van Gaal is worst Man United manager in 35 years

Louis van Gaal is officially the worst manager Manchester United have had in 35 years, according to a new report.
While Sir Alex Ferguson’s 26-year reign takes up a sizeable chunk of that time figures published by the Daily Mail have shown that the incumbent Red Devils boss has a worse record than those who preceded the legendary Scot.
The figures reveal that Van Gaal boasts a win percentage of just 49.34, worse than both David Moyes and Ron Atkinson.
Moyes, who took charge for the 2013-14 campaign, won 27 of his 51 games to earn a 52.94 percentage, while Atkinson, in charge between 1981 and 1986, was victorious in 146 of his 292 matches – exactly 50 per cent.
To find a manager with a worse record than Van Gaal you have to go all the way back to the days of Dave Sexton’s reign between 1977 and 1981.
The figures come in the wake of Van Gaal’s latest embarrassing set-back with United going down 2-1 to Danish minnows FC Midtjylland
On the back of that defeat the Dutchman has been cut to 8/11 to be the next Premier League manager to leave and at 1/5 to be his replacement Jose Mourinho is waiting in the wings.
Next up for Van Gaal is a trip to Shrewsbury to take on the League 1 strugglers in the FA Cup. Lose that one and he might as well head straight back to Holland from Shropshire.
