Man United odds-on to end the season trophy-less

Manchester United’s hopes of winning a trophy this season took a major blow last night after an abject performance away at Liverpool in the Europa League, and they’re odds-on not to win any silverware.

Louis van Gaal’s men had David de Gea to thank for keeping Liverpool at bay, yet even the inspired Spaniard couldn’t stop the Anfield side taking a 2-0 first-leg lead.

United are 2/9 to not add a trophy to the Old Trafford cabinet this season, while it’s 11/2 they overturn last night’s defeat next week and reach the last eight.

Before that though, West Ham visit for a quarter-final FA Cup clash, with United 7/2 third-favourites to win the famous old competition.

With a Champions League place looking unlikely next season though, it’s 33/1 that the Reds claim fourth in the Premier League and win the FA Cup, while it’s a massive 1000/1 they add a Europa League success to that.

A Ladbrokes spokesman said: “Defeat at Anfield was the latest indicator that Van Gaal and his side aren’t equipped for success, and the odds suggest that the Old Trafford trophy cabinet won’t be getting any new additions anytime soon.”

United are 10/11 to beat Slaven Bilic’s Hammers on Sunday afternoon, with the visitors a 3/1 price to heap more misery on Van Gaal and his men.
