Mignolet and Allen favourites to start Liverpool cull

Jurgen Klopp is expected to ring the changes at Anfield this summer, with Simon Mignolet and Joe Allen favourites to lead a Liverpool exodus, according to Ladbrokes.

Klopp has been linked with moves for a number of stars based on the continent but must first make way for any new signings and the bookies have gone 8/11 that five or more current Reds players are shown the door when the transfer window re-opens.

Mignolet, whose form has been called into question on numerous occasions this season, is the favourite to get the axe at 6/4, while midfielder Joe Allen is also expected to leave at 2/1.

Perhaps the highest profile name set to depart though is Christian Benteke, with the Belgian striker just 3/1 to find a new club this summer.

Having failed to kick-on at Anfield after impressing at Aston Villa the forward is expected to follow the hordes of players joining the MLS or Chinese Super League with a move to either of these emerging divisions priced up at 2/1 apiece.

A return to any of his former clubs has not been ruled out with Genk deemed a 5/1 shot, Standard Liege priced up at 5/1 and a return to Villa available at 7/1.

The cull is unlikely to end there with Adam Lallana (3/1), Lucas (5/1) and James Milner (5/1) also a short price to be playing elsewhere in the 2016-17 campaign.

A Ladbrokes spokesman: “He may have taken Liverpool to a cup final already but Jurgen Klopp is still to stamp his mark on the Reds’ squad.

“We’re anticipating wholesale changes at Anfield this summer and at present it seems few people are safe from the chop.”
