Peterhead’s Rory McAllister is the Ladbrokes League 1 Player of the Month

Peterhead hitman Rory McAllister has been rewarded for some terrific form with the Ladbrokes League 1 Player of the Month award for February.

The Aberdeenshire outfit have enjoyed a fruitful month, with a 100 per cent win-rate from four fixtures.

And McAllister has been instrumental in that run, bagging five goals in the four games including a hat-trick at home to Brechin City.

But the modest striker heaped praise on his teammates for helping him win his award, saying: “It’s obviously good to win awards because it shows how well the team are doing at the moment.”

He also discussed his target for the end of the season and admits that he feels he has already improved personally on last season.

He continued: “I always wanted to do better than last year’s goal tally and I’m glad I have now. That was the only target I set myself at the start but if I could reach 40 goals this year that would be great.”

Peterhead currently sit second in League 1, 11 points behind leaders Dunfermline. But The Blue Toon have a cup final to look forward to in April against Rangers at Hampden.

“Dunfermline might be out of our reach at the moment but we’ll keep pushing for second. We can’t get complacent.

“Promotion is our next target and we have the cup final to concentrate on too. We’ll just try to kick on from here and see what happens.”

McAllister is 1/6 favourite with Ladbrokes to be the Top League 1 Goalscorer with Faissal El-Bakhtaoui, Greig Spence and Joe Cardle completing the list at 9/2, 18/1 and 28/1 respectively.
