Poll Reaction: What was your favourite sporting moment this weekend?

The world gasped as Anthony Joshua delivered a bruising KO to American Charles Martin on Saturday night to claim the IBF Heavyweight Title.

So, when we asked our Twitter followers for their sporting moment of the weekend, it was little surprise that the Watford-born boxer once again knocked out the competition, to claim a win in our poll.

Joshua’s stunning second-round defeat of Martin led to the 26-year-old collecting 37 per cent of the vote for his heroics in the ring, though he had a magnificent Masters winner close behind.

Before the last week, the name Danny Willett would have led to blank looks when mentioned to all but the most ardent golfing fans. But the Sheffield-born former-amateur stunned the sporting world, winning the 2016 Masters by three strokes from many people’s pre-tournament favourite, Jordan Spieth.

That shock victory brought Willett 31 per cent of the vote, placing the man in the iconic green jacket in second place.

The continued heroics of Claudio Ranieri’s Leicester City have captured the hearts of football fans everywhere, with their incredible and unprecedented title tilt this season.

Star striker Jamie Vardy netted twice in a 2-0 win against Sunderland, to move his team a step closer to Premier League glory – a feat which brought him 17 per cent of the vote.

And while surprise Grand National winner Rule the World finished in the final position in our poll, the nine-year-old gelding and jockey David Mullins certainly weren’t lagging well behind, picking up 15 per cent of the vote.

A Ladbrokes Spokesman said: “This was a sensational weekend for sporting underdogs, but the breathtaking manner in which Anthony Joshua won the IBF Heavyweight Title makes that moment hard to top.”

So, can this diverse group of success stories follow up on their triumphs?

Danny Willett is now 33/1 to follow up his Masters title with victory in the U.S. Open this June. Leicester City are 100/1 to win next season’s Champions League. And both Joshua and Mullins are looking to continue their amazing winning runs as 2016 rolls on.
