Worst decision in betting history? Fan cashed out Leicester bet for 45p

| 28.04.2016

It’s set to be the biggest winner in betting history, but for one luckless punter, Leicester’s 5000/1 Premier League success is probably going to bring more heartache than joy.

That’s because this punter placed 50p with Ladbrokes on the Foxes winning the Premier League back in August, only to cash out for 45p shortly after their opening day win over Sunderland.

The unfortunate punter stood to win £2500 from Claudio Ranieri’s heroes this season, in a year when we’ve paid out record-breaking cashouts.

One man took us for a huge £72k earlier this year, as the Foxes head towards a famous Premier League success.

The East Midlands side are now in to 1/20 to make history and 13/5 to win the title against Manchester United on Sunday.

Alex Donohue of Ladbrokes said: “This will go down as the worst cash out decision in history.

“Plenty of 5000/1 backers took sums midway through the season when it looked in the balance, but we wonder what our man didn’t like about the 4-2 win on the opening day of the season.”

We want to find this mystery luckless customer, and help ease their pain…

Donohue added: “We are offering our customer an all expenses paid day out at a game next season plus another title bet to make amends to soften the blow. With judgement this good, any long term title bets should be left to ride.”
