Odds slashed on ex-Man City boss to be next Everton manager

| 24.05.2016

Former Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini is the new favourite to take over at Everton this summer, ousting Unai Emery as the bookies’ most likely man for the Goodison hotseat.

Pellegrini has seen his odds tumble from 10/1 to 2/1 as the man most likely to replace the ousted Roberto Martinez.

Former Ajax boss Frank de Boer is second in the betting at 4/1, alongside previous favourite, Sevilla coach Unai Emery.

In something of a domino effect, Joe Hart has also been linked with a move to the blue half of Merseyside, and it’s 33/1 the England keeper reunites with his former Man City boss at Goodison this summer.

Ronald Koeman is 5/1 to swap the south coast for the river Mersey, while an Everton return for David Moyes is deemed 6/1.

Alan Stubbs is next up at 14/1, with former Watford manager Quique Sanchez-Flores and Man United legend Ryan Giggs both priced at 16s.

A Ladbrokes spokesperson said: “The names at the head of the betting indicate this is a sought-after post and following a sustained run of money, Pellegrini is the latest favourite for the Goodison hotseat.”

Outsiders for the post include Stoke boss Mark Hughes and Ireland coach Martin O’Neill at 20/1, while 25/1 says Rafael Benitez forgets his Liverpool past and takes on the Everton role next term.

Recently departed Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal is 25/1 to stick around in the north-west, while current Everton caretaker David Unsworth is also 25s to land the role on a permanent basis.
