Super League: Classy Castleford set to entertain against Wigan

| 26.05.2016

They’re the entertainers of Super League and tonight Castleford Tigers are ready to showcase their class once again when the Wigan Warriors come to town.

The Tigers have put in impressive back-to-back performances to beat Leeds and Warrington in consecutive weeks and their upcoming clash will be another test of their abilities – one they are more than capable of passing.

Daryl Powell has worked wonders since arriving at the Mend-A-Hose jungle, turning Castleford into top-four candidates while becoming one of the most attractive sides in the competition in the process.

They’ve suffered with injuries in 2016 – with their woes added to by this week’s news that Ben Roberts will miss the rest of the season – but over recent weeks their attacking form has really clicked, notable alongside the return of Luke Dorn from injury.

Wigan have also been without key men for large parts of the season, but welcomed back Sam Tomkins two weeks ago for his second debut, and they brushed aside their bad form to demolish Leeds at Magic Weekend in Newcastle.

They will be without captain Sean O’Loughlin at Castleford, while fellow forwards Joel Tomkins and Liam Farrell are doubtful for the trip to West Yorkshire.

Castleford thrashed the Warriors 42-12 at the Jungle last year, with Wigan coach Shaun Wane describing it as the “worst day” of his coaching career. The Tigers can make home advantage pay again tonight and are 11/8 to claim the win.

Since his return to the side two weeks back, Luke Dorn has crossed five times in two games and is 11/10 to add to that tally tonight, while Sam Tomkins – who has one try in two games since his return to Wigan – is odd-on at 5/6 to cross at anytime.

Powell’s side are notorious for keeping the ball alive and scoring from unlikely positions and have been crossing the line for fun over the last couple of weeks. They are 7/4 to score more than 4.5 tries tonight.
