Arsenal v Liverpool headlines on Premier League opening weekend

The 2016-17 Premier League fixtures have been announced with Arsenal’s home clash against Liverpool arguably the pick of the bunch on an enticing opening weekend.

Believe it or not there are only 59 days to go until the new campaign gets underway and there’s plenty to look forward to right from the off.

Champions Leicester will travel to newly-promoted Hull on matchweek 1, new Chelsea boss Antonio Conte will prepare his side to host West Ham and there’s some testing assignments for the recently appointed managers of the two Manchester clubs.

Jose Mourinho’s first league game in charge of Manchester United will be away at Bournemouth while Manchester City supremo Pep Guardiola has a home game against Sunderland to contend with.

Here’s a closer look at some of the key dates in the upcoming Premier League calendar…

Matchweek 1, starts Saturday 13 August 2016

Further down the line we now know that the first Manchester derby will be on September 10 at Old Trafford with the return fixture at the Etihad scheduled for February 25.

Jose Mourinho will return to Stamford Bridge to face Chelsea on October 22 while Claudio Ranieri’s Foxes face a tough start to the defence of their title with matches against Arsenal, Liverpool and Man United coming before the end of September.
