This year’s July Cup winner will make a big noise at Newmarket

Published:

We’ve already enjoyed two days of top class racing at Newmarket’s July Festival but the best is still yet to come with a cracking July Cup renewal the centrepiece of this Saturday’s fare.

Some of the best sprinters in training are set to line-up at HQ, as well as a few interesting curveballs, and we’re getting stuck into the action.

No doubt you will be too. But before you do, take a look at this…

Money Back if 2nd or 3rd to the SP Favourite in Channel 4 races!*

There’s a total of 10 races set to be shown on Channel 4 with action from Ascot and York supporting the Newmarket card which we’re focusing on here.

Watch out for our Show Jumper Boosts throughout the afternoon alongside more fantastic value courtesy of Best Odds Guaranteed PLUS.

On Thursday, Mehmas was a 5/2 shot in the morning but returned 11/4 on course. Because of BOG+ we paid out at 3/1!

But that’s enough of the plugs. On with the show…

NAP – Silent Attack – 15:25 Newmarket

We may not have hit the mark when we tipped up the boys in blue on Thursday but we’re confident of re-couping when Silent Attack gets the job done.

The lightly-raced three-year-old was a course and distance last month and he can continue his progression with victory here.

Stepping-up to a mile has worked wonders for Saeed bin Suroor’s charge and there will no doubt be many backing the Godolphin runner to complete a quick-fire hat-trick.

NB – Quiet Reflection – 16:35 Newmarket

In truth, any one of the top six in the betting could conceivably take this red-hot July Cup renewal.

However, we have to stick a pin in somewhere and in this case it’s landed on Karl Burke’s improving filly Quiet Reflection.

Drawn in the same stall as last year’s hero Muhaarar, the Commonwealth Cup winner continues to improve and impress.

Her turn of foot in the final furlong is likely to prove decisive once again as she chases a seventh victory in eight outings.

Lively Longshot – Growl – Newmarket 17:10

Trying to pick the Bunbury Cup winner isn’t for the faint-hearted but with some big prices on offer it’d be rude not to have a go.

Richard Fahey’s Growl is low down in the weights and makes plenty of appeal following a smart two-length success in a Class 2 contest at Windsor last time out.

Oh, and throw in the fact that his trainer has won this in three of the last five years, including the previous two, and you can see why he’s a prime Lively Longshot.
