Result of the weekend? That would be Liverpool’s demolition job

| 15.08.2016

Football is back and we’ve already seen plenty of reasons to justify the hype and excitement around the new season.

But which match produced the result of the weekend?

That was the question we posed to our Twitter followers this fine Monday morning and it was a seven-goal thriller from the Premier League games that really captured the imagination.

Yep, Liverpool’s 4-3 blitz against Arsenal came out on top with 56 per cent of the vote while the shock defeat for champions Leicester at Hull was next in line with 21 per cent.

Then came Huddersfield’s brilliant 2-1 victory against Newcastle at St. James’s Park, before we opened it up to the general public in the much-loved ‘Other’ section.

Sadly (in this writer’s opinion at least), Wycombe’s dramatic last-gasp victory over Grimsby didn’t get a look in.

But Rangers’ table-topping success at Dundee did, while there were also honourable mentions for Barnsley and Aston Villa too.

Could tonight’s Monday Night Football clash between Chelsea and West Ham blow them all out of the water? It’ll have to go some to beat our poll topper.
