CSKA Moscow v Spurs: Undermanned visitors good value to win

| 27.09.2016

If Tottenham’s first Champions League outing of the season left them deflated, then they’ve wasted little time pumping themselves back up for the second.

A 2-1 defeat to Monaco in front of a record-setting and expectant crowd at Wembley was far from the ideal start for the Lilywhites.

However, three wins for the concession of just one goal since means they head to face CSKA Moscow in the perfect place to redress the balance of Group E.

Despite a spate of absentees for the north Londoners’ long-haul trip, we still make them the 29/20 favourites to triumph.

The hosts are available at 21/10 and had a more uplifting experience in their European curtain raiser, coming back from two goals down to draw with Bayer Leverkusen, a result which is 9/4 to be repeated against Spurs.

CSKA’s three following matches have been less inspiring though, with a win, a draw and a loss recorded. Add to that inconsistent form their recent record against English opponents and Spurs look good value for the win.

Should they pull it off it will be made all the more special by the number of first-teamers that are unavailable.

Along with Harry Kane and Danny Rose, Eric Dier, Mousa Dembele and Moussa Sissoko have all been left at home, so it’ll likely be a second or third-string midfield that’s tasked with controlling things against Leonid Slutsky’s side.

Spurs will likely lean on the red-hot Heung-min Son to fire their goals. The South Korean has bagged a pair of braces in his last four starts and is rated at a hefty 14/1 to repeat the trick in Russia.
