Odds fall on Man United sacking Mourinho this season

Published:

After a disastrous week which has seen defeat to local rivals Manchester City and Dutch outfit Feyenoord, the bookies have slashed odds of Manchester United parting company with Jose Mourinho this season from 25/1 to just 12/1.

The Red Devils have failed to hit top gear this season, with world-record signing Paul Pogba producing a slew of underwhelming displays and striker Anthony Martial on an eight-game barren run.

It’s 12/5 for the Old Trafford outfit to miss out on making the Premier League top four for the third time in four years, while 4/6 says they fail to lift a single major trophy in this campaign.

However, the bookies are backing the club to stick with record-breaking signing Paul Pogba, with 33/1 for the Frenchman to up sticks and move by the end of next summer.

A Ladbrokes spokesperson: “If United’s blip continues, their new gaffer could be the second boss sacked in a year at Old Trafford.”

“But don’t expect the Red Devils to cash in on Pogba after chasing the big-money midfielder across the globe this summer.”

Man United are 3/5 to return to winning ways at Watford this weekend, though a third successive defeat (5/1) could well see the price of Mourinho getting his P45 fall to the lowest price yet.
