Pulis and Pardew lead the Sack Race upon Premier League resumption

Published:

Tony Pulis is favourite to be the next Premier League manager to leave his post, according to Ladbrokes.

The West Brom boss is 11/8 to win this season’s Sack Race, with Crystal Palace’s Alan Pardew close behind at 10/3.

Speculation has circled around the Baggies manager throughout the summer, and the Saido Berahino saga hasn’t won him any favourites with the Hawthorns faithful.

Former England manager Roy Hodgson is 11/4 to be the next permanent manager at the Black Country outfit in what would be a shock return.

Francesco Guidolin and Walter Mazzarri are next in the Sack Race betting, with the Swansea and Watford managers 8/1 and 9/1 respectively.

A Ladbrokes spokesperson said: “The Premier League is back and so is the Sack Race. Pulis and Pardew already dominate the betting, and if they can’t find some results quickly, one of them could be on their way out sooner rather than later.

Sunderland’s David Moyes and Southampton’s Claude Puel are each at 14/1, with Middlesbrough coach Aitor Karanka at 20/1.

At the secure end of the market, it’s a dead-heat between Manchester rivals Jose Mourinho and Pep Guardiola, with the bookies deeming each of them a 100/1 shot to be the first Premier League manager to leave this season.
