Ryan Giggs hot favourite to snag top job at Swansea City

Published:

With Swansea City boss Francesco Guidolin under fire after three defeats in the past four games, Ryan Giggs has established himself as the 6/4 favourite to be the next man in the Liberty Stadium hotseat.

The 42-year-old was assistant manager under David Moyes and Louis van Gaal at Manchester United, in addition to a stint as interim player-manager back in 2014, where he took seven points from four Premier League games.

He’s the strong favourite for the Swans post, but even if Guidolin hangs onto his position in South Wales, it’s only a matter of time before Giggs gets a top job, with Evens offered for the Welsh wizard to manage any Premier League club this season, and 11/10 he takes charge of any EFL club during the period.

However, the bookies have essentially ruled Giggs out of the Hull City job at 20/1, with caretaker boss Mike Phelan looking increasingly likely to get the gig full-time.

Ladbrokes News’ Dave Burin said: “If Giggs gets the job and keeps the Swans afloat, he could leave Mourinho under fire for pushing a club legend out of Old Trafford.”

The Swans host Manchester City for the second time in three days on Saturday, following the Citizens’ 2-1 EFL Cup win at the Liberty Stadium, and it’s 7/1 the hosts get revenge with victory.

But if they lose, we could well see Giggs getting the call to kick-off his managerial journey.
