Everton and Leicester have Sevilla midfielder in their crosshairs

Having showcased his talents at Blackburn and Stoke it was Spanish side Sevilla who came knocking for Steven N’Zonzi’s signature last summer, but now the former Amiens midfielder is being coveted on English shores once more.

In six years plying his trade in the Premier League, N’Zonzi carved himself out a reputation as a tough-tackling defensive midfielder who perhaps lacked a little finesse and occasionally overstepped the mark as his far-from exemplary disciplinary record shows.

However, a season in La Liga which culminated in Europa League glory cast the 6ft 3” anchorman in a much more cultured light and the Frenchman’s stock has shot skywards in NASA-propelled fashion as a result.

N’Zonzi has adapted very well to the technical passing style of the Andalusians with the play flowing through Los Rojiblancos’ deep-lying pivot and his exploits on the continent have grabbed the attention of both Everton and Leicester according to the Daily Mail.

The Premier League duo are not alone in their admiring glances either, with Juventus supposedly sniffing around the 27-year-old in the last transfer window.

Perhaps it is Sevilla’s shrewd implementation of a £27m buyout clause in N’Zonzi’s contract that discouraged the Serie A champions from making a bid.

According to the Mail, Leicester actually made an offer for the former France U21 in the same period, so there’s scope that the Champions League club could revisit the possibility of signing him in January.

Everton are later to the party, but having missed out on many of his summer targets,Toffees boss Ronald Koeman is thought to have expressed his interest in the Sevilla man.
