Antoine Griezmann sparks Man United alert with Paul Pogba wish

In a story that’s set to get tongues wagging in and around Old Trafford, Atletico Madrid and France ace Antoine Griezmann has said it would be ‘awesome’ to team-up with international team-mate Paul Pogba at club level.

The pair are currently on World Cup 2018 qualifying duty with Les Bleus, but there is plenty of speculation surrounding Griezmann’s current club situation.

Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone has said he will quit the Rojiblancos at the end of next season, while Griezmann has also suggested he will look elsewhere once the Argentine moves on.

Manchester United are just one of a number of Europe’s biggest sides linked with a potential deal for the man named Player of the Tournament at Euro 2016.

And the Premier League side’s chances will have been done no harm by the 25-year-old’s latest comments.

Speaking to Sky Sports Germany, Griezmann said of the world’s most expensive player: “I always ask Paul Pogba about Manchester United.”

“I think they are a huge club with a really good infrastructure. I ask Paul about some of the players, and if they’re really that good or if Jose Mourinho is really that good.”

While remaining coy about his future, Griezmann alluded to a potential link-up with his France team-mate.

“You hear a lot of things about Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain but right now I don’t see me moving to a new club. But it would be awesome to play alongside Paul one day”.

A return to the top-four and Champions League football would also boost United’s credentials as a potential option for Griezmann.

After waltzing to victory over Swansea, United will hope to follow that up after the international break.

It won’t be easy though, with Jose Mourinho’s men hosting an Arsenal side on a 16-game unbeaten run.

The bookies make United 13/8 for victory a week on Saturday, with the Gunners 7/4 shots.
