Prepare for a weekend of huge fixtures in Germany, Spain & Italy

Published:

There’s so much hype surrounding the return of Premier League football that it almost slipped us by that some of the continent’s giants will be facing off against each other in their respective leagues. Almost

Nothing slips through the net here at Ladbrokes News HQ though, and we’re providing you with match previews for three of the biggest games set to take place across Europe this weekend.

And where better to kick things off than with a clash between the two biggest names in the Bundesliga?

Borussia Dortmund v Bayern Munich (Saturday – 17:30)

You’d have to go back to May 2014 to find the last time Dortmund defeated their title rivals. The man in charge of them that day? Jurgen Klopp.

And following a dreadful run of seven games without victory over FCB, coupled with a poor start to the campaign which already sees the hosts six points off the pace, means the value here is in the Evens on Carlo Ancelotti’s men to win this one.

We’re expecting plenty of goals in this one though, with Dortmund and Bayern finding the net a staggering 49 times combined already this season after just 10 games apiece.

And for that reason, despite Bayern conceding just six goals this season, we reckon the top bet here is Bayern Munich to win and BTTS at 11/4.

Atletico Madrid v Real Madrid (Saturday – 19:45)

The footballing gods have timed this one to perfection.

Just as the Dortmund game finishes, the Madrid Derby will be kicking off. And despite it being so early on in the season, it’s vital the home side grab all three points in order to keep up with their opponents and Barcelona.

Despite, rather unsurprisingly, boasting one of the best defences in La Liga, Diego Simeone’s men find themselves in fifth-place in the table, six points adrift of Real.

The last time these two sides met in the league, it was Los Rojiblancos who snatched a 1-0 victory, and 15/2 says they do the same again and close the gap at the top.

But given the importance of this game, our top bet has to be Atletico to win at 11/8.

AC Milan v Inter (Sunday – 19:45)

As rivalries go, you don’t get much bigger than Derby Della Maddonina.

Two of the biggest names in world football will be going head-to-head in Serie A, and it’s the home side who head into this one as slight favourites at 13/8.

That seems like pretty good value, too, with Rossoneri sitting comfortably in third-place in the table, a staggering nine points ahead of their bitter rivals after just 12 games.

And if you were to back AC to take all three points, it’s worth noting that both sides have scored in just one of the last eight meetings between the two sides in all competitions.

That makes for tempting value in the 7/2 for the ‘home’ team to win to nil.

If you’re looking for a treble to keep your weekend entertaining, we’re paying just over 39/1 for Bayern Munich to win and BTTS, Atletico Madrid to beat Real and AC Milan to win to nil.
