Southampton now favourites to snap up Liverpool outcast in January

Daniel Sturridge Europa League Final

Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge continues to be linked with a move away from Anfield in the January transfer window, and Southampton are the 9/2 favourites to snap him up, according to Ladbrokes.

Jurgen Klopp has opted for a style of play that suits front-three Sadio Mane, Phillipe Coutinho and Roberto Firmino perfectly.

But that means Sturridge is struggling for minutes on the pitch, and he’s reportedly keen on a move to another Premier League club that can guarantee him more game-time.

A winter move looks increasingly on the cards, with 7/4 saying he moves anywhere in January.

And failing that, it’s now just 11/8 for the England international to leave Liverpool by the end of the summer 2017 transfer window.

The Saints have been struggling for goals this season, following the departure of Graziano Pelle in the summer, and only four sides have found the net fewer times than Claude Puel’s men this campaign.

They’ve relied heavily on Charlie Austin thus far, with the 27-year-old bagging five of Southampton’s 12 Premier League goals, so they’d certainly welcome a player like Sturridge, who has 69 goals to his name in the top-flight.

Ladbrokes News’ Dave Burin said: “Southampton fans could see their prayers for a new Saint answered, with the prolific Sturridge seemingly edging closer to a South Coast switch.”
