Will Leicester City boss reunite with PSG full-back this summer?

Published:

Having already brought one member of his 2012-13 Ligue 2-winning AS Monaco side to Leicester City this summer in the form of Nampalys Mendy, Foxes boss Claudio Ranieri is now keen to reunite with another member of that squad – PSG’s Layvin Kurzawa.

The 24-year-old came through the ranks at Monaco and made his debut under Ranieri back in September 2010, gradually becoming one of the top performers for Les Rouges et Blancs before he left for the French capital last summer.

A dynamic left-back, the Frejus native chalked up six goals and seven assists during three seasons as a regular for the principality club – and his energy and creativity unsurprisingly caught the eye of then-PSG gaffer Laurent Blanc.

But despite the Parisians beating Arsenal in a tussle for his signature last summer, Kurzawa has struggled for a consistent spot in the starting XI at Parc des Princes, playing just 14 times as PSG strolled to the Ligue 1 title last season.

That offers an in for Ranieri, who remains a huge admirer of the full-back, whose displays continue to go from strength to strength, with four goals in his opening seven games of this campaign.

With Transfermarkt.co.uk placing Kurzawa’s market value at £19.55m, he certainly won’t come cheap.

However, the Foxes are willing to spend big to get the right man, having spent a combined £55m on the trio of Islam Slimani, Ahmed Musa and Mendy in the Summer.

Next up for Leicester is the visit of West Brom to the King Power Stadium on Sunday.

It’s 8/11 for the hosts to enjoy victory, while 17/4 says the Baggies win and it’s 12/5 for the draw.
