X Factor betting suggests Matt Terry & Ryan Lawrie are worlds apart

Published:

Week Five is now upon us, so we thought we’d take a look at what the latest betting numbers are suggesting as we edge closer to finding out who’ll be crown the 13th X Factor winner.

So where else could we start than with the lad from Bromley who has headed the market since his first audition was aired?

Matt Terry

The 23-year-old is getting stronger and stronger as the weeks go by, and that can only spell danger to the other contestants. Not only is he the most-backed act remaining in the show, he’s also by far the most staked-on contestant. And the bets continue to be placed on the 23-year-old, who’s now just 8/11 to win the show.

Ryan Lawrie

However, the same can’t be said for his mate, and Nicole Scherzinger’s other act, Ryan. In fact, the two couldn’t be any further apart in terms of the betting. A quick look at the total amount staked on both contestants tells you just how big the gap is between Ryan and Matt. A staggering 93.9 per cent of total stakes have gone in favour of the latter.

Emily Middlemas

The Scottish sweetheart isn’t too far behind the market leader, though. Right now she’s priced at 10/3 to win the competition, but it’s worth considering that she can expect to receive an increase in votes when her boyfriend, Ryan, eventually leaves the show. Fans of him will naturally shift their attention to the 18-year-old, and the gap between her and Matt may continue to close.

Sam Lavery

However, rather surprisingly, it’s Simon Cowell’s other act that’s had more bets placed on her. Does that mean punters know something that we don’t?

Five After Midnight

These three lads haven’t had the best of times in recent weeks. But at 10/1 to win the show, we can’t write them off just yet. Only Matt has had more staked on him over the last few weeks, and they’ve had more than double the amount of bets placed on them than the competition’s only other band, 4 of Diamonds.

4 of Diamonds

And that takes us nicely onto the girlband, who’ve struggled to win the public over since their return to the show in Week Two. They’re finding it hard to attract punters, too, with only Ryan receiving fewer bets.

Saara Alto

From a viewer’s perspective, Saara’s revival in the last two weeks has been great to watch. But from a punter’s point of view, it just seems unlikely she’ll go much further. It’ll come as no surprise to you to learn that she’s been one of the most-backed contestants to leave the process over the last four weeks.

Honey G

And that means Sharon Osbourne’s best chance of winning the show is with Harrow’s answer to Nicki Minaj, Honey G. While that seemed incredibly unlikely just two months ago when she was priced at 100/1, support for her is growing with every performance, making her our one to watch.
